Michael LaFerle


Mike LaFerle. Laferle is Vice President of Real Estate and Construction for The Home Depot. Mike is responsible for the development of all retail facilities throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean and China, as well as the acquisition and development of all office, warehouse and distribution facilities, which support the retail business. In addition to new store development, the Real Estate and Construction Department works closely with the Enterprise Asset Management team to manage our existing real estate portfolio of 2,256 stores and other facilities. Mike is also involved with our Strategic Business Development team in the evaluation and integration of acquisition opportunities throughout the world.
 
Mike joined The Home Depot in September 1997 as a Manager of Real Estate in the Midwest Division. In 1999, he became the Director of Real Estate for the Midwest Division, and in 2002, Mike was promoted to Vice President of Real Estate for North America, and he and his family moved to Atlanta.
 
Prior to joining The Home Depot, Mike was the Director of Real Estate Development for ALDI Inc., one of the world’s largest privately held food retailers. During his 10 years as Director, he was responsible for developing the initial entry strategy into the United States, and overseeing the development strategy for all new stores, regional offices and distribution centers.
 
Mike holds a bachelor’s degree in financial management from Cornell University in Ithaca, NY.
